About the maker

Welcome! I’m Ellie (she/her), a maker/craftswoman based in central New Hampshire. I have been making things for as long as I can remember and am drawn to work that engages both my hands and my mind while connecting me to place. I grew up in the Adirondack mountains of upstate New York, and lived and worked in New Mexico, Washington state, Maine, and Vermont before settling here in New Hampshire with my husband, Alden.

I spent many years as a farmer educator and continue to prioritize the growing of plants for food, medicine, natural dyes, and fiber on a small scale. I enjoy being able to connect plants both grown and foraged directly to my other crafts through wild harvested basket materials, pieces of plants imprinted in pottery, and with natural dyes for my hand spun yarn.

My craft philosophy is centered around simple, functional beauty. I want to make pieces that will bring joy to their user and which have lasting durability. I am currently focusing on creating pottery for sale and love the way that this craft creates a vessel of some sort to hold other parts of people’s lives - harvests from a garden, your daily breakfast, flowers, etc. I am also exploring the varied seasonality of this work to see what feels best for my process.

I fully believe that craft and making can and should be political and I am striving to find my path in connecting craft with social justice and community work. I am occasionally open to bartering so if you see an item you are interested in but it is outside your price point please be in touch and we can discuss possible options.

It brings me great joy to be able to make items that others will use and cherish for many years. You can follow me on Instagram and Facebook (links in header) and if you have any questions about what I make or my process, or if you just want to chat about handcrafts, please be in touch!
